Educational Seminars on the Insurance Grading Schedule

2-day seminars are being conducted in each district of the state.  These seminars are designed to assist Fire Service Officers in obtaining a better understanding of the Insurance Grading Schedule that is used by the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana when they conduct Public Protection Gradings on fire departments in Louisiana.

New Fire Marshal Appointed

Chief Paul Smith of the Alexandria Fire Department has been appointed by Governor Blanco to head the Office of the State Fire Marshal.  Chief Smith was the Fire Chief for the Alexandria Fire Department prior to his appointment and a active member of the LFCA, serving as a board member at one time.  To find out more about the Office of the State Fire Marshal, go to our links page for the link to their web page.

Property Insurance Association of Louisiana Correspondence

All chiefs / departments should have received a letter from PIAL addressing changes in the crediting of Communications Personnel and information concerning the crediting of apparatus used in water hauling based upon documented use.  Please review these for the changes that may effect your organizations next rating.  A copy of this letter has been placed on the publications page for you to download.
